Galloway applauds governor's budget proposal
Initiatives set forth in spending plan would benefit Bucks County
HARRISBURG, Feb. 5 – State Rep. John Galloway, D-Bucks, released the following statement on the 2008-09 state budget proposal unveiled by Gov. Ed Rendell today:
"This budget is good not only for the entire Commonwealth, but also for the people of Bucks County and the 140th Legislative District. The economic stimulus package the governor is proposing is aimed at heading off the possible effects of a recession. The energy independence strategy would not only help our average homeowners cut their energy bills, but also reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
"I applaud the governor's increases for education and his efforts to change the way in which we fund our schools. We cannot continue funding schools primarily with property taxes.
"Health care is of major concern to me and my constituents. The governor has a plan that would provide access to quality health care to all Pennsylvanians at an affordable cost. This is a plan I fully support and I encourage my constituents to visit my Web site at www.pahouse.com/Galloway and share with me their health-care challenges so I can do my best to address them as we move forward on passing a state budget."
