Galloway: Local residents to receive above average property tax relief

HARRISBURG, May 1 – State Rep. John Galloway, D-Bucks, announced today that slots gaming in Pennsylvania has generated enough revenue for Bucks County homeowners to share in more than $33.5 million in school property tax relief this summer.

"The amount of relief will vary by school district, but homeowners in the 140th Legislative District are expected to see cuts above the state average of $169," said Galloway, who has always made cutting and eventually eliminating school property taxes a top priority.

The estimated school property tax relief per homeowner in the 140th Legislative District is as follows:

ü  Bristol Borough School District homeowners  – $286;

ü  Bristol Township School District homeowners – $289;

ü  Morrisville Borough School District homeowners – $217;

ü  Neshaminy School District homeowners – $216;

ü  Pennsbury School District homeowners – $240.

"This tax cut couldn't come at a better time," Galloway said. "Prices for fuel, utilities and food continue going up so it gives me great pleasure to let my constituents know that at least their school property tax bill is going down."

Gov. Rendell signed the Taxpayer Relief Act in June 2006 to provide school districts with the means to lower school property taxes for all homeowners.
