Galloway taking applications for summer House internship program
BRISTOL, May 8 – State Rep. John Galloway, D-Bucks, said today that applications are being accepted for the summer Legislative Intern Program of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
"The program is designed to give qualified students the opportunity to experience working in the legislative environment," Galloway said. "Students will be given a variety of tasks from clerical work to research and writing projects."
Student interns are temporary employees assigned to work in either a member's local office or Harrisburg office. Applicants for the program must be enrolled as a student at an accredited institution of higher education seeking an associate, bachelor's or graduate degree. Galloway noted that the paid internships may be for a maximum of 40 hours per week and may last for a maximum of 10 weeks.
"This program provides students the opportunity to gain summer employment that also gives them a chance to experience state government firsthand," Galloway said. "It's an experience which I believe improves their understanding of government and helps them to become more civic-minded."
More information about the program, as well as applications, are available by contacting either of Galloway's constituent service offices: in Bristol at 215-781-2451, or in Levittown at 215-943-7206. Interested students may also request information by sending Galloway an e-mail through his legislative Web site at www.pahouse.com/Galloway.
