Galloway says 2010 U.S. Census will create thousands of local jobs
HARRISBURG, Dec. 2 – State Rep. John Galloway, D-Bucks, said the U.S. Census Bureau is hiring thousands of temporary workers to help complete the upcoming 2010 Census.
"While these positions are temporary, they are well-paying jobs that will provide a weekly paycheck, mileage reimbursement and paid training, which would certainly help people who are unemployed or newly graduated college students," Galloway said.
Galloway said most of the positions, which are full-time, offer flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Positions include census taker, census crew leader, census crew leader assistant, recruiting assistant and census clerk.
Residents who want more information, or to apply, can visit the Census Bureau's Web site at http://2010.census.gov/2010censusjobs, or call the Census Bureau at 1-866-861-2010.
The census counts every resident in the United States and is required by the U.S. Constitution to take place every 10 years.
