Melio announces prescription assistance bus to stop in Bristol Township

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, Aug. 14State Rep. Tony Melio, D-Bucks, announced that The Partnership for Prescription Assistance Bus will soon be stopping in Bristol Township in conjunction with the United Way and its partners.

The PPA bus will be in Bristol Township from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 at the Bristol Township Senior Center (James AJ Gallagher Community Center), 2501 Bath Road.

Melio added the bus will be on-site at the center's health fair, which is open to all seniors 50 and older.

"With the addition of the bus to the fair, this will be a one-stop shop for many attendees," Melio said. "There are many programs available to help people defray the cost of prescription medications, including the state's prescription-assistance programs, PACE and PACENET. This a fast and easy way to apply for some you may qualify for."

The bus will be equipped with 10 computers and phone stations to help people apply. Workers will also be available to help match you with a company that can assist you in getting your prescriptions. All residents between the ages of 19 and 64 are encouraged to bring a list of the drugs they are taking.

"This is a great opportunity for Pennsylvania residents to get help with free or reduced-price prescriptions," Melio said. "This project will help the countless number of people who are struggling to pay for the high cost of prescription drugs."

To date, PPA has matched more than 233,000 residents with free or reduced-cost prescriptions. More information is available online at www.pparx.com.

For more information on the health fair or the bus, residents should call Melio's office at 215-943-8669(TONY) or contact the Bristol Township Senior Center at 215-785-6322.
