King announces $185,541 in local environmental grants
LANGHORNE, April 16 – State Rep. Chris King, D-Bucks, announced today that Bucks County will receive $104,505 and the Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority will receive $81,036 in environmental grant funds.
The water and sewer authority grant will reimburse the authority for 50 percent of the cost of preparing and updating the official county sewage plan. The funds were provided under the state Sewage Facilities Planning Grants Program.
Bucks County's grant will be used to reimburse the county for half the cost of developing and operating household hazardous waste collection events at various locations in the county between May and September of last year. The funds are being provided through the Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program.
"I'm pleased that this funding will help Bucks County continue its work to both improve the area's infrastructure and protect our environment from pollutants," King said.
Both grant programs are funded by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
King said Bucks County will be holding hazardous waste collection events again this year. The Lower Bucks events are scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at Lower Makefield Corporate Center, South Campus, 770 Township Line Road in Lower Makefield Township; and Saturday, Aug. 16 at Bucks County Technical High School, 610 Wistar Road in Bristol Township. Both events will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
