Gerber helps deliver $25,000 in scholarships for Montco families

Conshohocken, April 15 – State Rep. Mike Gerber, D-Montgomery, today presented $25,000 in scholarship checks to Montgomery County families whose children attend five local schools.

The scholarships were made possible under the state’s Education Improvement Tax Credit program through Aetna and the Bravo Foundation. The EITC program gives businesses tax credits for contributions to qualified scholarship, educational improvement and pre-K scholarship organizations.

Gerber has supported the EITC program legislatively and matched Aetna and Bravo with Conshohocken Catholic School, St. Philip Neri of Lafayette Hill, Waldron Mercy Academy of Merion Station, Congregation Or Ami of Lafayette Hill, and Play and Learn of Blue Bell. Each of the five schools will receive $5,000 in scholarship money for children and families who need support. The check presentation was held at Conshohocken Catholic School.

"It's a pleasure to see this state-created public/private partnership directly benefiting the children of our community," Gerber said. "I hope the kids do well."
