Gerber delivers grant to Whitemarsh Police for new traffic safety tool

WHITEMARSH, April 17 – State Rep. Mike Gerber, D-Montgomery, on Wednesday presented the Whitemarsh Police Department with a $7,190 state grant to buy a mobile speed trailer to help curb speeding in Whitemarsh Township.

"I am pleased to support the Whitemarsh Police Department’s efforts to make Whitemarsh roadways and neighborhoods safer," Gerber said. "I know from knocking on doors and hearing from Whitemarsh residents at my town hall meetings that speeding is a serious issue in the township.

"Statistics prove these speed trailers are effective, so I am hopeful they will work here in Whitemarsh," Gerber added.

While the trailer will alert motorists of their speed, it will, more importantly, relay traffic speeds back to the police department for monitoring and enforcement.
