Gerber honors local veterans
CONSHOHOCKEN, July 22 – State Rep. Mike Gerber today hosted his fifth annual veteran’s event to honor men and women who have served in the National Guard or U.S. Armed Forces and live in the 148th Legislative District.
This year’s event, held at the Fellowship House in Conshohocken, honored veterans with both a luncheon and ceremony, and included representatives from various organizations that help veterans.
"Pennsylvania men and women, both past and present, have made great sacrifices to protect our nation’s freedom," Gerber said. "Today we honored many of them and, more importantly, tried to help them access federal, state and county programs designed for their benefit."
Gerber welcomed past honorees and presented new honorees with a Pennsylvania medal of honor and a special citation from the state House of Representatives. Gerber’s first ceremony of this kind was held in 2006.
"My staff and I take great pleasure in putting these events together. It is the least we can do to show our respect and appreciation for those individuals who answered the call for the highest form of public service," Gerber said.
