Taylor scores 100% for the environment

HARRISBURG, July 21 – State Rep. Rick Taylor, D-Montgomery, today received a perfect score from the environmental advocacy organization PennEnvironment for his support of legislation to protect Pennsylvania's environment and promote clean energy.

Taylor was one of 13 House members out of the total of 203 termed "environmental heroes" for "consistently voting to protect Pennsylvania's environment and the public's health"  by PennEnvironment Director David Masur, who announced in Philadelphia the group's scorecard of the voting records of the commonwealth's state and federal representatives.

"I am pleased to accept this report because, more now than ever, we need to be conscious of what we are doing with energy and the environment," Taylor said.  "We needed a sound energy policy 30 years ago, but because of short-sightedness, we are now dealing with the consequences.

"While big oil companies are mopping up record profits, we are left with the energy prices sapping the pocketbooks of every American."

Taylor supported legislation to make Pennsylvania a global leader in the production of alternative energy sources such as biodiesel, solar wind and other renewable energy as well as polices to promote energy consideration, combat global warming, clean the air and ensure the purity of water sources.
