Shapiro to attend first-ever White House reception
marking Jewish American Heritage Month
ABINGTON, May 27 – State Rep. Josh Shapiro, D-Montgomery, will attend the first-ever White House reception marking Jewish American Heritage Month. The event is scheduled to take place this afternoon, May 27, in the East Room of the White House.
"It is always an honor to be invited to the White House. In this case, it is particularly special to be there on a day that celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month and the contributions the Jewish community has made to our country," Shapiro said. "The fact that the president has made Jewish American Heritage Month a personal priority and that of his administration is a symbol of the great melting pot that defines the excellence of America."
First proclaimed on April 20, 2006, Jewish American Heritage Month recognizes the more than 350-year history of Jewish contributions to American culture.
Shapiro represents the 153rd Legislative District in Montgomery County. For more information, visit www.pahouse.com/Shapiro.
