New state budget increases education funding without raising taxes
HARRISBURG, July 4 – State Rep. Lawrence Curry, D-Montgomery/Phila., said the new state budget passed today includes a nearly $275 million increase in overall education funding without raising taxes.
"All school districts can count on getting at least a 3 percent increase in state funding," Curry said. "The budget not only increases funding for basic education, but it also ensures that successful programs such as Pre-K Counts, Dual Enrollment and Classrooms for the Future remain viable."
Funding for school districts in the 154th Legislative District is as follows:
Cheltenham Township School District:
$4.1 million in Basic Education Funding -- $121,670 increase over last year
Jenkintown School District:
$786,063 in Basic Education Funding -- $22,895 increase over last year
Springfield Township School District:
$1.19 million in Basic Education Funding -- $34,677 increase over last year
