HARRISBURG, June 24 – State Rep. Barbara McIlvaine Smith, D-Chester, announced today that the Chester County Solid Waste Authority will soon receive a $57,297 recycling grant.
The grant was awarded under the state's County Recycling Coordinator Program and will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the county recycling coordinator’s salary and expenses.
"The recycling efforts put forth by Chester County’s residents are tremendous and deserve to be recognized," McIlvaine Smith said. "Recycling is important not only for the environment, but also for our economy."
Employment in the recycling and reuse industry provides jobs for more than 81,000 Pennsylvanians. The industry generates $18.4 billion in sales and an estimated $305 million in tax revenues annually.
