Drucker announces $31,500 grant for Tredyffrin

HARRISBURG, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Paul Drucker, D-Chester/Montgomery, said today that the Commonwealth Financing Authority has awarded a state grant of $31,500 to Tredyffrin Township to assist with the purchase of solar panels.

Under a partnership with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the solar panels will be installed on sound barriers to be erected near mile marker 323. Electricity generated from the system will power the Turnpike Commission's Valley Forge rest stop.

"This project will conserve energy and lower utility costs for the Turnpike Commission," Drucker said. "It's an innovative and important project, and I am pleased that the state is providing this grant funding to help it move forward."

The grant was awarded through Pennsylvania's Solar Energy Program. The program provides financial assistance in the forms of grant and loan funds to promote the use of alternative energy in the state.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority administers and finances projects included in the Solar Energy Program. The CFA also oversees the state's Building PA program, Business in Our Sites program, PennWorks, New PA Venture Capital Investment, New Pennsylvania Venture Guarantee, Tax Increment Financing Guarantee, H2O PA and Second Stage Loan programs. Each of these programs is aimed at using targeted state investments to attract private capital for economic development in all regions of the state and for all types of industries.
