Kirkland recognizes Keystone Mercy Health Plan
HARRISBURG, March 17 – State Rep. Thaddeus Kirkland, D-Delaware, presented a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to officials from Keystone Mercy Health Plan today at the state Capitol for the company's outstanding service to the community.
Kirkland said Keystone Mercy Health Plan of southeastern Pennsylvania is being honored for receiving the Recognizing Innovation in Multicultural Health Care award from the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
Kirkland said the health organization was chosen by the NCQA for its 40-Day Journey, a component of the company's Health Ministry Program.
"I am honoring Keystone Mercy with a citation because officials have been successful in reducing health disparities among minorities," Kirkland said. "The organization has helped African-American women and their families receive proper medical service."
The Delaware County lawmaker said the 40-Day Journey focuses on families through a six-week educational series emphasizing nutrition, exercise, medication compliance and water intake.
Kirkland is chairman of the House Tourism Committee and represents the 159th Legislative District in Delaware County.
