Kirkland announces $1.6 million low-interest loan for Chester city project

HARRISBURG, Oct. 27 – State Rep. Thaddeus Kirkland, D-Delaware, announced that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority today approved a low-interest $1.6 million loan for a storm water management project in Delaware County.

Kirkland said the 20-year loan at 1 percent interest will help to build a sewage collection system on an 80 acre site of the proposed Keystone Sports and Entertainment Center.

"After completion of this project, Keystone Sports is expected to create 360 jobs over the next three years and will invest $105 million in construction and renovation," Kirkland said. "I am happy to see this brownfield site being redeveloped."

Kirkland said in addition, the governor's office has committed $40 million in grants and $7million in low-interest loan assistance for the stadium project.

Kirkland said low-interest loans and grants from Pennvest are available to municipalities for sewage and drinking water maintenance and improvement projects.

More information about Pennvest loans and grants and how to apply is available on the Pennvest Web site at www.pennvest.state.pa.us.
