Lentz to hold workshop to help residents get unclaimed property

SWARTHMORE, April 1 - State Rep. Bryan R. Lentz, D-Delaware, said the Pennsylvania treasury's Bureau of Unclaimed Property will attend his workshop to help residents determine if they are the rightful owner of one or more of the many properties currently being held by the bureau.

The Pennsylvania Treasurer's Office currently has over $1 billion in unclaimed property from abandoned bank accounts, forgotten stocks, checks that have not been cashed and many other sources.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at the
Schoolhouse Senior Center, 600 Swarthmore Ave., Folsom. Interested constituents should RSVP by April 15.

Lentz said Pennsylvania residents can search for unclaimed property the state may be holding. Residents can search for unclaimed property online by visiting www.patreasury.org, or by calling toll free 1-800-222-2046.

Searching for and recovering unclaimed property held by the state is free; residents who are contacted by someone offering to help them search for unclaimed property for a fee should ignore those solicitations.

For more information, call Lentz’s constituent service office at 610-544-7301.
