Lentz joins Dynamic Defense Materials
in renaming product line after fallen Marine
Ryan McCurdy’s ultimate sacrifice inspires company to introduce portable armored wall system in his name
SWARTHMORE, May 26 – State Rep. Bryan R. Lentz, D-Delaware, joined Dynamic Defense Materials to announce the name change of their Evaloch Armor product line to McCurdy’s Armor in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. Ryan McCurdy (KIA) at the Herbert W. Best VFW Post 928.
"Lance Corporal McCurdy was a true American hero who lost his life saving another Marine with whom he was standing guard," Lentz, who is a war veteran, said. "Ryan saved a life on the battlefield and now he will save countless lives through his inspiration."
DDM's Product Specialist, Joe Dimond, served with McCurdy in Fallujah, Iraq from 2005 to 2006, until McCurdy was killed by sniper fire on Jan. 5, 2006. Dimond wanted to memorialize McCurdy’s selfless act by naming DDM’s portable wall after the deceased Marine.
"This system will replace the sandbag structures that have been used in combat since before the Revolutionary War," Lentz said.
McCurdy’s Armor is a portable armored wall system that is a unique, rapidly deployed protective structure easily configurable to meet various threat levels. It offers protection against small arms, mortars, rockets, artillery, armor piercing rounds and suicide bombs. This patent-pending system can be assembled into a full guard post by a three-person team in about 10 minutes. It can be dismantled and redeployed in a similar amount of time. A number of units are currently in theater throughout the world.
DDM will be donating a percentage of all sales to a charity that has been set up in McCurdy's name in Baton Rouge, La.
