HARRISBURG, June 16 – State Rep. Bryan R. Lentz, D-Delaware, will hold a Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program signup day for residents of the 161st Legislative District from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Schoolhouse Senior Center, 600 Swarthmore Ave., Folsom.

The event aims to help local senior citizens and others determine if they are eligible for the rebate and complete the application. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

Lentz said rebates of up to $650 are available to those who qualify based on household income and taxes or rent paid in 2007. To be eligible, a person must be 65 or older, a widow or widower 50 or older, or 18 or older with a permanent disability.

The income limit is $35,000 for homeowners or $15,000 for renters. Only half of a person’s Social Security or railroad retirement income need to be counted toward the limit. The deadline to apply is Dec. 31.

Property owners will need to bring along a driver’s license or other form of identification, a Social Security statement, IRS 1099 form, dividend statement, pension statement, statements for any earned interest or income, and a property tax paid receipt. Renters will need a rent certificate and rental occupancy affidavit filled out by their landlord.
