Vitali to hold hearing on energy at Valley Forge Military Academy
HARRISBURG, Feb. 29 – The state House Appropriations Subcommittee on Fiscal Policy will examine the impact of state investment in green technologies on Pennsylvania's economy at a public hearing at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at Valley Forge Military Academy and College, according to state Rep. Greg Vitali, D-Delaware, the committee chairman.
Vitali said the public is invited to attend the hearing.
"It's important to understand the relationship between state spending to encourage renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and biomass, and job creation,” Vitali said. “Other states such New York and New Jersey are making significant investment in the renewable energy industry, and Pennsylvania needs to invest more to remain competitive."
Scheduled to testify are representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, PennFuture, Chester County Economic Development Council, the Union of Concerned Scientists and the international energy companies Gamesa and Iberdrola.
For further information, residents may contact Vitali's office at 610-789-3900.
