State mini-grants available for autism services
HARRISBURG, March 17 – State Rep. Greg Vitali, D-Delaware, announced today that the application deadline is April 18 for a state program that makes mini-grants available to individuals and families to help pay for Autism Spectrum Disorder services.
Vitali said the mini-grants of up to $500 can be used to help pay for services such as respite and child care, summer camp, recreational or community programs, conferences and workshops, and safety modifications for homes. The grants can only be used for activities or services that occur between March 1 and Aug. 31.
The mini-grants are available from the state Department of Public Welfare's Bureau of Autism Services. Pennsylvania residents who have ASD or care for a family member with ASD may apply for the grants provided they are not employees or contractors of the Bureau of Autism Services, they are not currently receiving family support services, and they have not received any other family support services in the past 12 months.
Applications are available on the Bureau of Autism Services Web site at www.autisminpa.org. Residents may also call 1-866-497-6898 or e-mail c-jsands@state.pa.us to receive an application.
Completed applications must be returned by mail to: Attn: F&I Mini-Grant, Bureau of Autism Services, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, P.O. Box 2675, Harrisburg, PA 17105-2675.
