June 4 news conference to focus on proposed state budget's

 impacts on environmental programs

 

HARRISBURG, May 31 State Rep. Greg Vitali, other lawmakers, and representatives from the business and non-profit sectors will hold a news conference at noon Monday, June 4 in the Capitol Media Center to discuss the impacts the proposed budget cuts will have to important environmental programs.

 

They will discuss state Department of Environmental Protection funding reductions, diversion of Keystone Fund money from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to the General Fund, elimination of a dedicated funding source for the Farmland Preservation Program and elimination of funding for Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants.

 

Confirmed speakers include Andrew Heath, executive director of Renew Growing Greener Coalition; Ben Wootton, president and CEO of Keystone Biofuels; Rick Price, executive director of Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities; Betsy Huber, legislative liaison for the Pennsylvania State Grange; Brady Russell, Eastern Pennsylvania director for Clean Water Action; Curt Ashenfelter, executive director of Keystone Trails Association.
