Boyle will fight against Corbett's cuts to higher education
HARRISBURG, Feb. 7 – State Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Phila./Montgomery, released the following statement in response to Gov. Tom Corbett's 2012-13 budget proposal unveiled during his address to the state legislature:
"I strongly oppose this plan and am outraged by its irresponsible cuts to higher education. Governor Corbett continues to prove that he is out of touch with the needs of Pennsylvania residents. He clearly did not learn his lesson from the pain he caused in last year's budget.
"This is just more of the same. In this budget plan, the governor continues to cut funding for higher education institutions and grants, with no regard for the students and families already struggling to pay high tuition bills.
"Today’s employers demand highly skilled workers. Cutting higher education funding means fewer Pennsylvanians will have the skills needed to compete in the job market because higher tuition will keep them out of school. It is yet another attack on our middle class."
