McGeehan says rebates available for hybrid vehicle purchase
HARRISBURG, Nov. 17 – State Rep. Mike McGeehan, D-Phila., today reminded residents that they could be eligible for a $500 state rebate for purchasing qualified hybrid vehicles.
"The goal is to provide an incentive for Pennsylvanians to purchase fuel-efficient vehicles, and these rebates make the car buying process more affordable," McGeehan said.
"Fuel-efficient cars, including today's hybrid vehicles, help us meet the dual targets of energy conservation and freedom from foreign oil. They are the goals contained in laws we enacted this year as part of the Energy Independence Strategy to make more 'green' products and increase our development of homegrown fuels like biodiesel."
Rebate forms and a list of vehicles that are currently eligible for the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Rebate are offered through the state Department of Environmental Protection and can be found by going online to www.depweb.state.pa.us and entering the keyword: Hybrid Vehicle Rebates.
All forms and information must be returned to DEP within six months of a vehicle purchase in order to qualify.
Rebate forms must include the following information:
- A copy of a valid Pennsylvania vehicle registration.
- A copy of a bill of sale.
- A proof of purchase of the vehicle.
McGeehan said rebate forms are also available by calling 866-294-3854 or 717-214-3492.
