Payton, Councilwoman Quinones Sanchez hosting Saturday community celebration
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 14 – Residents of Frankford, Hunting Park, Feltonville, Olney and Oxford Circle are invited to join state Rep. Tony Payton, D-Phila., and Philadelphia Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez for their first Community Day Celebration.
The event will be
held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at Gambrell Recreation Center,
1900 Wakeling St., Philadelphia.
"I'm very excited to have this opportunity to bring the community together and meet new people in my district," Payton said. "Councilwoman Quinones Sanchez and I want to celebrate the many good things people are doing in the community and offer a day of fun and positive activities. I am very proud to offer this event to my constituents for what I hope will be years to come."
Food and beverages will be provided. Entertainment will include disc jockeys spinning hip-hop, R and B, salsa and reggae music. There will also be live musical performances. Representatives from local and state agencies will be available to provide information about a variety of social services.
The event will offer finger painting, a clown show, water ice and pretzel giveaways, radio station personality appearances, sports competitions and a double dutch contest.
