Josephs helps to honor 17^th Police District officers

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 22 – State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Phila., was on-hand this week to honor officers of the Philadelphia Police Department 17^th District in recognition of their outstanding service and commitment in 2009.

Seventeen officers received Blue Ribbon Awards from the 17^th Police District Advisory Council, in addition to recognition from several state representatives and council members.

Josephs said she felt privileged to help honor the Blue Ribbon awardees in recognition of their hard work.

"These men and women work tirelessly to maintain safety and justice in the city of Philadelphia. Unlike most people, they are in danger every moment that they work. I am proud to offer a measure of gratitude on behalf of myself, our community and the Commonwealth," Josephs said.

The Blue Ribbon Awards are a joint venture of the 17th Police District and its advisory council. The ceremony was held this week.
