Donatucci seeking 10,000 constituents who have unclaimed property in Pa.
PHILADELPHIA, June 27 – State Rep. Maria P. Donatucci, D-Phila., will host an unclaimed property event at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 in her constituent service office, 2115 Oregon Ave. in Philadelphia.
Jack Stollsteimer, director of unclaimed property at the state Treasurer's Office, will provide an overview of the program and detailed instructions on how constituents can find out if they have unclaimed property and safely claim it.
Donatucci said the Treasurer's Office reports more than 10,000 of her constituents have unclaimed property, which includes closed bank accounts; uncashed checks, including paychecks; lost stocks and bonds; contents of safe deposit boxes; proceeds from the demutualization of insurance companies; expired gift cards/gift certificates; and more.
"Please don’t assume you can't have unclaimed property with the state," Donatucci said. "This workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the program and receive help from my office. In some cases, people may have $1,000 or more waiting to be claimed."
Donatucci said she plans to hold special office hours each Wednesday in August to assist constituents who are unable to attend the July event.
For more information, contact Donatucci's Oregon office at (215) 468-1515.
