Roebuck honors Phillies, National League champs
HARRISBURG, Oct. 3 – Rep. James Roebuck, D-Phila., was joined by his fellow lawmakers yesterday in unanimously honoring the Philadelphia Phillies’ achievement in clinching the National League East division title.
Roebuck sponsored the resolution (H.R. 431) to commend the Phillies for overcoming the daunting challenge of being seven games out of first place with just 17 games to go at the end of the regular season.
“The Phillies have brought a great sense of joy and pride to our great city of Philadelphia that is shared across Pennsylvania,” Roebuck said. “I thank my colleagues in the House for joining me to celebrate this victory and wish the Phillies the best of luck in the National League playoffs.”
Roebuck said the team rose to the challenge as true champions must, culminating with its Sept. 30 triumph over the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park.
