Siptroth announces Monroe recycling grant
HARRISBURG, Jan. 12 – State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, announced that the Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority received a $76,157 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection under its Recycling Performance Grant Program.
The grant is based on the authority recycling 6,342 tons in 2007. The grant program provides incentives to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of material recovered through recycling and promote economic growth through job creation and market expansion.
"I congratulate the authority for the work it has done to help the environment and quality of life in Monroe County," Siptroth said. "I hope the state dollars the authority will receive serve as an incentive to keep up the good work."
