Siptroth announces state grants for local recycling efforts
MARSHALLS CREEK, Aug. 27 – State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, announced today that state grants approved by the Department of Environmental Protection will help Ross Township and Delaware Water Gap Borough with recycling efforts at the local level.
Ross Township will receive $2,696 and Delaware Water Gap will receive $648 as part of the state's Recycling Performance Grant Program.
The grants are based on the amount of tons recycled and the populations of the municipalities during calendar year 2006.
"These recycling performance grants are in addition to regular state funds provided through the Department of Environmental Protection to our local municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs," Siptroth said. "This funding will not only help us with recycling efforts, but also serves as a boost for the local economy."
The Recycling Performance Grant Program provides an incentive to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in the Commonwealth through job creation and market expansion.
