Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus celebrates Black History Month
HARRISBURG, Feb. 9 – The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus celebrated Black History Month today with its annual Black History Program in the Capitol Rotunda.
The program paid tribute to African-American pioneers in Pennsylvania’s history. Honorees included Harrisburg's first African-American mayor, Linda Thompson, York's first-African-American mayor, Kim Bracey, and Pennsylvania's first African-American District Attorney, Seth Williams.
The Haitian quartet "Messengers of Hope" performed gospel songs, and the program also featured singers Daniel Moses and Yonda Spradley.
"I consider it a privilege to be able to once again host our Black History program this year," PLBC chairman, state Rep. Ronald Waters said.
Following the program, the PLBC held a luncheon for attendees.
