House Liquor Control Committee approves Waters legislation
HARRISBURG, June 20 – State Rep. Ronald Waters, D-Phila./Delaware, announced that his bill amending the Liquor Code was endorsed by the House Liquor Control Committee.
Waters’ legislation (H.B. 606) would require a manager in Pennsylvania appointed by a restaurant, eating place, retail dispenser, hotel club or distributor licensee to complete the Responsible Alcohol Management Program manager/owner training offered by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
“RAMP is currently a voluntary program, and it is important that we require managers to be trained and aware of Commonwealth liquor service laws so their staff can follow suit,” Waters said. “With this bill, I aim to impose responsible liquor service on establishments throughout the state as a testament of my ongoing efforts to better this Commonwealth.”
Waters' legislation further stipulates that, upon approval of appointment, a manager would have 180 days to comply with the RAMP training requirement.
The bill has the support of the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association, as well as the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Tavern Associations.
