Manderino resolution naming May 4-10 'Juror Appreciation Week' adopted in House
HARRISBURG, May 5 – State Rep. Kathy Manderino, D-Phila./Montgomery, said the House today adopted a resolution (H.R. 740) she sponsored that designates May 4-10, 2008 as "Juror Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania. Manderino jointly sponsored the resolution with state Rep. John Maher, R-Allegheny.
"The constitutional right to a trial by jury is preserved by dedicated citizens willing to do their civic duty and serve on a jury," Manderino said. "It is fitting that the General Assembly honors these citizens’ service to our democracy."
Each year, more than 66,000 Pennsylvanians serve as jurors in criminal and civil trials.
