DeLissio invites public testimony on state budget proposal
HARRISBURG, May 18 – State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio, D-Phila./Montgomery, will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2012-13 state budget from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at the Conservatory at the West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Ave., Bala Cynwyd.
"Discussions and negotiations about the governor's proposed budget will be the major focus of the legislature when we return to session next week," DeLissio said. "As I sat through eight days of Appropriations Committee hearings in February and early March, I realized that citizens, organizations, businesses – generally anyone who is a stakeholder – have no opportunity to give in-person testimony."
DeLissio is offering constituents the opportunity to provide testimony on the budget.
"The budget is funded by taxpayers," DeLissio said. "It must serve the needs of citizens in an equitable way and I intend to advocate for the best interests of our community."
DeLissio said she expects a strong response and is limiting this opportunity to residents of the 194th Legislative District or to people who have a business or organization based in the 194th. Anyone interested in providing testimony is asked to call DeLissio's office at 215-482-8726 or 717-783-4945 or email kshaffer@pahouse.net if additional information is needed.
The hearing is open to the public.
