Manderino honors local students for academics, leadership

HARRISBURG, June 23 – State Rep. Kathy Manderino, D-Phila./Montgomery, recently recognized area students who have excelled in leadership and scholastic skills over the past year.  

Participation in the award program is voluntary. Schools in the 194^th Legislative District decide whether or not they will participate. Principals identify students who have shown exceptional leadership in their schools and communities, or who have made other important accomplishments over the year.

Manderino presents these students with the Student Leadership Award and the Certificate of Achievement Award for their actions.

"These students deserve to be acknowledged for their achievements in school and in the community," Manderino said.

Students from the following schools in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township have been presented with awards:

• Dobson School - Amanda Driver, Leadership; Victoria Canevari, Achievement
• Bala Cynwyd Middle School - Tyler Niles, Leadership; Sarah Schwartz, Achievement
• Roxborough High School - Michael St. Clair, Leadership; Philip Laws, Achievement
• Shawmont School - Eric Wheeler, Leadership; Marcello Sansone, Achievement
• Saul High School - Maria Rodriguez, Leadership; Laura Steinberg, Achievement
• Holy Child School - Timothy Mamrol, Leadership; Kyle Guldner, Achievement
• Levering School - Joseph Fouchard, Leadership; Huy Pham, Achievement

· Harriton High School - Benjamin Goldberg, Leadership; Edward Shell, Achievement
