Williams announces job fair and separate training workshop
Temple to hold interview workshop March 18, Williams’ job fair set for April 4

PHILADELPHIA, March 11 – Amid concerns about a possible impending recession and strained economy, state Rep. Jewell Williams, D-Phila., said Philadelphians should attend his fourth biannual job fair, being held April 4.  Williams also is urging job-seekers to attend a March 18 workshop.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 4 at Temple University’s Mitten Hall. Employers from the Delaware Valley will be available to receive resumes and conduct interviews on job openings within their respective companies and corporations.

“Besides acquiring a strong education, a basic way to improve your financial well-being and quality of life is to find gainful and lasting employment opportunities,” Williams said. “While I frequently offer educational workshops, I also am committed to offering my constituents opportunities to network and learn how to market themselves in the workforce.

“I am extremely encouraged by the number of employers that have responded and are dedicated to the residents of this city. I will continue to work with these companies in the future because I think it’s important to encourage people to improve themselves and let them know about opportunities available for career advancement.”

In addition, Temple University will conduct a mock interview workshop, followed by one-on-one practice interviews with human resource professionals from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the Entertainment and Community Education Center, 15th Street at Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

For more information on Temple’s workshop, call 215-204-7650. This effort is being sponsored by the Temple University Human Resources Office of Community Outreach. Inquiries about the job fair should be directed to Williams’ constituent service office at 215-763-2559.
