State House passes budget bill
HARRISBURG, Oct. 7 -- State Rep. Rosita Youngblood, D-Phila., released the following statement today regarding House passage of the 2009-10 state budget bill:
"Tonight I voted in favor of passing a budget that demonstrates our commitments to funding education, health care and vital social services. Most importantly, the spending plan does not include any broad-based tax increases, avoids a proposed plan that would have crippled our volunteer organizations and veterans' groups by taxing small games of chance, and also steers clear of a proposed tax on admissions to arts and cultural activities, such as performances, museums and zoos."
