Youngblood to propose more transparency, public accountability in RACP grants
HARRISBURG, Dec. 16 – State Rep. Rosita C. Youngblood, D-Phila., will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 in the Capitol Media Center to outline her proposals that would fix a number of problems with the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
Youngblood asserts that the RACP, one of the state’s most important grant programs, is lacking in transparency and accountability to the public.
Legislative supporters from both sides of the aisle are expected to join her at the news conference in calling for the legislature to enact the reforms.
RACP, administered through the governor’s Office of the Budget, is used for property acquisition and construction of economic and other improvement projects across the commonwealth.
Youngblood and her supporters are seeking to bring an end to the pay-for-play politics that have been in the background of the program for decades and several gubernatorial administrations.
MEDIA COVERAGE IS INVITED.
