Parker to host two workshops for Philadelphia seniors

PHILADELPHIA, May 16 – State Rep. Cherelle L. Parker, D-Phila., has announced she will host two workshops for area senior citizens to help promote health, wellness and the special needs of the senior community in Philadelphia.

The two workshops are:

"Health Benefits"

10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 22

"Consumer Protection"

10 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 19

Both workshops will be held at the Finley Recreation Center, 7700 Mansfield Ave., Philadelphia.

Parker said the workshops will provide seniors living in the Philadelphia community with information regarding local, state and federal programs, as well as insight on how to protect against fraud and other consumer issues.

"Seniors face unique and significantly different needs than younger Pennsylvanians, and the state has created many programs to help them," Parker said. "Seniors are also the target of many scam artists who attempt to rob them of their money and identity. These workshops will provide valuable information and also allow seniors to voice their concerns about issues facing their communities."

Register to participate by calling Parker's constituent service office at 215-242-7303.
