Parker: Legal workshop a great success
HARRISBURG, June 5 – More than 100 people attended Saturday's legal workshop sponsored by state Rep. Cherelle L. Parker, D-Phila.
"Our constituents showed so much interest and the conversation was so informative that the workshop ran 90 minutes longer than had been scheduled," Parker said. "I look forward to next year's workshop."
The workshop was held at the Finley Recreation Center, 7701 Mansfield Ave., Philadelphia. Participating agencies included: Community Legal Services, Philadelphia VIP, Military Assistance Program, Legal Clinic for the Disabled, Defenders Association, and the Good Shepard Mediation Program.
Issues discussed were: wills, living wills, property deeds, the expungement process, the voter ID law, tenant and landlord rights, rights of same-sex couples and predatory lending.
"Workshops such as this allow constituents to have their questions or concerns addressed by the proper agencies, and interact with neighbors to share their experiences," Parker said.
