Parker to host annual holiday lighting ceremony
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 24 – State Rep. Cherelle Parker, D-Phila., will host her annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 on the 1500 block of Wadsworth Ave. in Philadelphia.
The event will include caroling, food, hot beverages and other services. A military color guard will open the evening. Invocation will be given by Rev. Dr. Ethelyn Taylor, pastor at Oxford Presbyterian Church. Performances will include Agape Children Community Choir, Eva Donaldson School, Mt. Airy Bannums, Joy Unlimited and Simon Steppers. Activities will include face painting, balloon sculpting, the Book Give-a-way Million Book Project and an appearance by Santa Claus.
Parker will speak at 5:25 p.m., and the holiday lighting is to begin at 5:45 p.m.
"I would like to see everyone from the community join us as we celebrate the beautification of our community, in particular the Wadsworth Avenue Commercial Corridor," Parker said.
