Myers to host town hall meeting for 201st District residents on Thursday
PHILADELPHIA, May 4 – State Rep. John Myers, D-Phila., will hold a town hall meeting for residents of the 201st Legislative District from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at New Gethsemane Baptist Church, 917 E. Chelten Ave.
Myers said that the session will serve two purposes. He will be able to provide attendees with updated information about state and city agencies, and those attending can provide him with input on local and state issues.
“I’m looking forward to a good exchange of ideas,” said Myers. “The foremost concern I see for the district is the plague of firearms violence that continues to grow in our city and ways we can help to begin to stem the rising toll. We’ve got to do something to shut down the flow of handguns that are so easily accessible to our youths and the criminal element that's so quick to pull the trigger.”
Myers said other priorities in Harrisburg in the coming months include the 2007-08 state budget and the governor’s proposed Prescription for Pennsylvania legislation to make basic health care available and affordable to all residents of the state.
