Democratic Policy Committee to hold hearing on human services cuts Thursday in Harrisburg
HARRISBURG, May 24 – House Democratic Policy Committee Chairman Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, today announced that the committee will hold a public hearing examining state budget cuts proposed to human services from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in Room 418 Main Capitol Building, Harrisburg.
State Rep. Mark Cohen, D-Phila., chairman of the House Human Services Committee, requested the hearing and will serve as co-chairman. The current agenda is:
Ø Deb Beck, president, Drug and Alcohol Providers of PA
Ø Linda Anthony, policy director, Disability Rights Network of PA
Ø Richard Weishaupt, senior attorney, Community Legal Services Inc.
· 11a.m. – Panel two:
Ø Tony Ross, president and CEO, United Way of PA
Ø Paula Bussard, senior vice president of Policy and Regulatory Services, The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of PA
Ø Brinda Carroll Penyak, deputy executive director, County Commissioners Association of PA
· 11:50 a.m. – Closing remarks
