At the meeting, the Pennsylvania Department of General Services promised to begin the bidding process on April 15 for Phase I. Work is expected to begin this summer with an expected completion date of November 2011. Rep. Pallone learns about the light metals research at the Alcoa Technical Center in New Kensington, the largest light metals research and development facility in the world. Pallone hosted a tour of the facility for the House Majority Policy Committee on Jan. 19 to show how Alcoa gives back to the local community through its Alcoa Foundation grant investment program. Pallone serves on the Alcoa Technical Center Community Advisory Board and is a member of the House Majority Caucus Policy Committee.
