Rabb outraged by mistreatment of intellectually disabled adults
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 2 – State Rep. Chris Rabb, D-Phila., released the following statement after hearing the news of Blossom Philadelphia, which operates community homes for intellectually disabled adults, losing their license due to “gross incompetence:”
“I am deeply concerned to hear the news of Blossom Philadelphia losing their license to operate due to what the state Department of Human Services describes as ‘gross incompetence.’ Ensuring the health and safety of the most vulnerable among us is paramount to our success as a society.
“Families entrust their loved ones to qualified, quality, licensed organizations to receive the care that they are unable to provide for their loved one.
“The state Department of Human Services took the reasonable and necessary steps to ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities remain healthy and safe in the least restrictive environment. I will continue to monitor the situation and am here to support the affected families in any way possible.”
