Sign the petition to call for sensible, fair regulation of the gas drilling industry in Pennsylvania

The current Marcellus Shale gas drilling law fails to hold the industry accountable, fails to make it contribute its fair share and fails to protect the commonwealth’s resources and environment. The law includes incentives to lease new state forest land, does not provide for adequate environmental protection, and imposes an optional fee that is at most about one-third the national average.

We need to amend the weak law signed by Gov. Tom Corbett to:

  • replace the optional impact fee with a 5 percent drilling tax, and
  • protect our public lands by imposing a moratorium on gas leases in our state forests.

Please join me in calling for sensible, fair regulation of the gas drilling industry in Pennsylvania.
