Schweyer to host district events to assist constituents

ALLENTOWN, Sept. 10 – State Rep. Peter Schweyer today announced he will host several events in his district next week to assist constituents.

“I’m pleased to host my monthly Medicare assistance program and veterans assistance outreach as well as my annual car seat safety check,” Schweyer said. “Hosting events like these make it possible for my constituents to learn about many programs available to them. In the case of the car seat safety check, constituents are able to ensure they are safely transporting the children in their lives.”

An APPRISE counselor will be present at Schweyer’s office – 1912 S. Fourth St. – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 for people wishing to sign up for Medicare, or those who want to change their plan. The counselor is also available to answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, Programs for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly and various low-income assistance programs. Appointments are required by calling Schweyer’s office at 610-791-6270.

Schweyer’s office will also host a car seat check for families from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Neighborhood Center, 417 N. Seventh St. The event will allow safety officials to help families make sure children are protected while traveling with properly installed car seats in vehicles. Appointments are not necessary for this event.

A representative from the American Legion will be in Schweyer's office -- 1912 S. Fourth St. -- from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 to provide information on services available to veterans and their families. The representative will be available to discuss pensions and other compensation, education, health care and death benefits. Legion membership is not required to take advantage of the help, but anyone interested in speaking to the adviser is recommended to schedule an appointment through Schweyer’s office at 610-791-6270.
