The 1925 Pottsville Maroons were a powerhouse team and a proud part of our area’s past. They won both the National Championship and an exhibition game against the Collegian National Champion Notre Dame team which included the "Four Horsemen," but were stripped of their title by the NFL for participating in the 1925 exhibition game.

A book titled "The Breaker Boys" about the NFL's action against the Maroons has been written by ESPN author David Fleming, who visited our district to speak about the incident and sign copies of his book.
