Rep. Tim Solobay shows off one of 16 new vans to transport the state’s veterans to medical appointments and treatment at Veterans Affairs clinics and hospitals in Pennsylvania. In total, $350,000 from the 2007-08 state budget was used in purchasing the vans; nearly 270 volunteer drivers transport more than 1.5 million veterans each year.

Rep. Tim Solobay (pictured at right) meets with some of the local foster grandparents at a luncheon held in their honor at Hilton Gardens in Southpointe. Rep. Solobay sponsored a resolution designating June 2008 Foster Grandparent Program Month in Pennsylvania. The Foster Grandparent Program offers seniors age 60 and older opportunities to serve as mentors and tutors for children and youth with special needs.
