A wide range of public sector agencies/employers offering jobs and training opportunities will attend.  Participating employers include CareerLink,OIC, Kensington Hospital, Temple University, Temple University Hospital, Congresso de Latinos Unidos, Urban League of Philadelphia, Inc., Northeast Hospital, PA Department of Corrections, Parx Casino, Philadelphia Department  of Parks & Recreation, Philadelphia Prisons, North Philadelphia Health System, Philadelphia Police Department, PA State Police, PA Turnpike, School District of Philadelphia, Jefferson University Hospital, University Of Pennsylvania Health System, Philadelphia Airport and PA State Police Liquor Enforcement among others.

For the past 10 years, Thomas has sponsored a public sector and a private sector job fair each year.  People have been hired on the spot at these annual job fairs.

“I have two job fairs annually – one for private sector jobs and one for public sector jobs,” said Thomas.  “I have a public sector job fair each year because public sector jobs, those related to city, state and federal government, provide the best opportunity for long-term employment that will help stabilize families. This job fair is targeted to those college and high school graduates in my district that have had a hard time finding permanent work. We have a wealth of qualified, skilled and talented people who are willing and able to add value to any agency or organization. The goal of this job fair is to bring those people together with the opportunities that exist.”

Thomas said reentry jobs are not being targeted this time.  We will include that in the focus of the fall private sector job fair.”

Participants should come dressed in business attire and bring plenty of resumes.  Free parking is available in the lot next to Bright Hope Baptist Church.
